good luck for khaolak
fortuitously, mrs kona has quit her job and is moving on to greener pastures at another bank...she will finish up on 10 aug and only start up at the new place on 20 aug...therefore we have decided to take a quick 4D3N trip upto to khaolak, thailand...this is a place about an hour's drive north of phuket...
was thinking of phuket itself but decided against staying in phuket itself on account that we've been there quite a number of times before...but maybe we will do the last night in phuket anyways...
booked tiger airways departing 11 aug 7am and returning 14 aug 2210pm...at least for the 1st 2 nights, we will stay at BAAN KHAOLAK...very decently-price and looks very good indeed...
can't wait...soooo desperately need the break...here are some pix of the hotel...

malaysia boleh part deux
looks like the malaysian police just luuuuurrrrve having egg on their faces...a bad year so far...what a scandal
KUALA LUMPUR: The police have been duped into paying RM5,000,000 (about USD1,466,381.80) for imitation spare parts for their patrol cars and police vehicles.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan is not amused and has ordered a full investigation into the matter. Police Logistics Department deputy director Deputy Comm Datuk Mahsuri Zainal said the IGP has ordered that those involved be dealt with severely.
He added that Musa also wanted a thorough review of all police purchases.
The scam was uncovered when a police logistics officer, suspecting something amiss, sent more than 90 of the items to Proton headquarters for verification. After checking, Proton confirmed that at least 70 of the parts were imitation products.

M'sian police red-faced as Porsche stolen - twice Thief drove it out of a police station...
Wed, Jul 18, 2007
Reuters - KUALA LUMPUR, July 18 (Reuters) - Malaysian police were left red-faced after a man who abandoned the theft of a US$280,000 Porsche for lack of fuel attempted the crime a second time and drove the sportscar out of a police station, local media said.
The suspect had first attempted the theft on Monday at a luxury car showroom in northern Penang state, local papers said. Dressed smartly in a suit and tie, he asked for the car keys and promptly sped off, smashing through the glass windows. The car was later found abandoned a short distance away, its fuel tank empty.
The New Straits Times said the man kept the keys and returned with a canister of petrol to a local police station where the car had been towed. He drove off with the Porsche, ditching it later after he discovered roadblocks had been set up to stop him.
Police were hunting for the suspect, the paper said.
