finally...at long last...got lexi's HU changed...to make a long story short, a friend of mine gave me his component speakers and HU cos he's scrapping his car...i just paid the labour and materials for swapping over both sets of car stereos...all in all spent about a third of what i would have had to fork out had i gone and got new stuff...reasonable i guess...
see the HU fascia above...it's the SONY MEX-1GP (Gigapanel)...the receiver has 1GB of flash memory and a USB port engineered into the faceplate. when the faceplate is removed from the receiver and connected to a Windows-enabled PC, it is recognized as an external drive. with the provided USB cable, users can quickly transfer and save MP3 and WMA files to the faceplate...kinda frickin' cool!
now i can blast my muzak and not have the speakers explode...the stock HU and speakers in lexi were utter rubbish, man!
and here's a little review done by car audio magazine of the HU installed in a FORD GTX...if they can use it on a 1-off "concept" car, heck it must be good innit?

colbie caillat...
COLBIE CAILLAT's music has just blown me away...folksy yet contemporary, lyrical, whimsical and wonderfully melodic are her songs and i find myself compelled to go and buy the album ASAP!!!
caillat's debut album, Coco, was released on July 17, 2007. with tracks like "The Little Things", "Feelings Show", and "Bubbly", Coco reached number one on the iTunes chart; it also debuted at number five on the Billboard 200, selling about 51,000 copies in its first week. on October 2, 2007, Coco, was certified Gold by the RIAA...
my fave song from this album, Oxygen, has yet to be released as a single but you can check out on youtube below...go see and listen...you won't regret the time spent
Colbie Caillat - Oxygen
I came apart inside a world made of angry people
i found a boy who had a dream
making everyone smile
He was sunshine
I fell over my feet
like bricks underwater
how am i supposed to tell you how i feel
i need oxygen
oh baby let me be your lady
i will make you happy
never gonna leave, never gonna leave
oh baby can i be your lady
i am going crazy for you
and so i found a state of mind
where i could be speechless
i had to try it for a while
to figure out this feeling
this felt so right
pull me upside down to a place
where you've been waiting
how am i supposed to tell you how i feel
i need oxygen
oh baby can i be your lady
i will make you happy
im never gonna leave,
never gonna leave
oh baby can i be your lady
i am going crazy for you
you dont wanna keep me waiting
staring at my fingers feeling like a fool
oh baby can i be your lady
i am going crazy
im never gonna leave,
never gonna leave
oh baby let me be your lady
i will make you happy, yeah-ohhhh
tell me what you want,
baby tell me what you need
anything i ask baby give it to me
baby give it to me, give it to me
give it to me, give it to me
baby give it to me give it to me
the rest of her muzak can be sampled on her official website HERE.

so here we were browsing within and i came across IT!!! the very AUTOART 1:43 diecast model that i was searching so hard for...and discounted by more than 50%...needless to say, money was extracted in a flash...hurray!!! sooooo happy
please excuse the crap photo...mobile phone lah...

the aftermath of the IRB WC07
ok, so my faves AUSTRALIA got bounced out like a bunch of dunces by an inspired ENGLAND team led by bonny jonny wilkinson...big deal...the way that the aussies played, the lack of urgency and the numerous handling errors...yeah they quite deserved it...but george gregan sure didn't deserve to draw the curtain on his international career by being on the wrong end of the scoreline...fare thee well, george...you will be missed...
my second faves NEW ZEALAND also got got ambushed...this time by an inspired FRANCE...a national catastrophe if there ever was one...they've certainly be well dubbed as "chokers"...could it be the heavy hopes of a nation for which rugby is akin to religion and the expectations of being THE team of the last 2 years on the international circuit? welllll, suffice to say that they have a lot of self-reflection to do...
i really do hate the way the english play...all forward rucks/mauls/lineouts and kicking for position...it's just damn bloody boring with a capital B! they do it without an iota of flair and this crazy dependence on jonny for his penalty kicks and drop-goals...crap on them!
did SOUTH AFRICA deserve the win in paris? judging just by the finals, yes...they dominated the forward-pack battle and manage to win more than their fair share of the line outs...and crucially, did not give away silly penalties or handling errors when the english were camped out in their 22...so basis that, yes...but still it was a somewhat lacklustre final for me as there wasn't a single try (albeit there was a disallowed one...but that one will be debated on for years to come)...
haizzz...if only the other 2 southern hemisphere giants had played to potential...

This has got to be one of the most clever E-mails I've received in awhile. Someone out there either has too much spare time or is deadly at Scrabble.

a passionate amateur is my friend, marc...picked up photography only last year and yet he's far outstripped my best...such is his sponge-like rate of absorption and enthusiasm for this hobby that he's even DIYed his own rig for taking photos of cars on the go...with fantastic results, if i may say so...
