a bit "disappointed"

in this modern day and age, is the sanctity of marriage dying?

2 of my close gal pals have informed me that they are on the road to divorce...and only somewhat recently a good friend of mine went the same way with his marriage...and added to these are a couple more old friends who have gotten divorced in the past few years...

cripes...

call me traditional if you will, but to yours truly, the marriage vows are sacred...i truly believe that it's for good and bad times...where a couple should work towards resolving issues/problems to the fullest extent before anything else is contemplated...just that in this day, it's too easy to cut our losses...and it's exacerbated by the fact that lotsa couples are delaying the setting up of their families...children might be a cementing factor in keeping the marriage going...

yes i know, it's easy to say when i am outside of the problems/issues and when i do not know the whole story, but then again, it's MY say anyway...

oh well...in any case, i will always be there for them since i am a friend...that doesn't mean i have to like the situation though...

wish it weren't this way...

ok, i admit it...before today, i have not caught a single episode of THE SOPRANOS...mostly because when i heard of it, it was already into its 2nd season and i had no way of catching up (those being the times when i had no access to broadband for downloading)...but now, i fully intend in catching up and some!

i've always been somewhat fascinated by the italian mob...from familiar movies such as THE GODFATHER trilogy (made famous by brando and pacino), GOODFELLAS, CASINO, SCARFACE...and i felt slightly "ashamed" that i had not watched tony and gang in action...


well, it's time to get it done...i shall be getting very litle sleep in the coming weeks to catch up on what VANITY FAIR mag called "perhaps the greatest pop-culture masterpiece of its day"...

incredibly, i have been spewing nonsense for 2 whole years already

what started out as a little bit of a joke and an attempt to keep with the times has actually managed to last quite a spectacularly long while (well, at least in my book)...

i wonder what's kept me going? the urge to spew crap and vitriol (erm nope!)...the compunction to keep up with the joneses (perhaps i think) or just having an alternative, somewhat faceless outlet to share my outlook on life and interests with those people in the blogsphere that drop by now and then...more likely than not, methinks...

well, i thank those 8500 some unique individuals that have stopped by in the past 730 days then...it's been fun...and also somewhat enlightening for me too...never did think i would be able to sustain this for all this time, but amazingly, i've done it...and still have the drive to do it...

let's drink to another 2 years then...dowanna be too ambitious for the mo

absoloodle!!! (in the words of doc from THE POWER OF ONE - bryce courtenay...but i digress)

back to the 500 (in italian, literally the cinquecento)...this is the new incarnation of the original that came on the mass market in 1958 and pre-dates the iconic issigonis mini by a whole 2 years...

the new one obviously is bigger (no thanks to current crash regulations blah blah) but it still retains much of the cheekiness and chicness of the original...i totally love this and if it came into singapore at a decent price, would soooo consider this as a 2nd car for mrs kona...she happens to like the looks too...

most likely, for the singapore market it will be either the 1.2 8V or 1.4 16V engine but crucially the price has to be attractive of course...

and it's the fastest available @ 100 MBPS as well...so it's a quantum leap from the dead slowness of a 56kbps dial up (yes i noe i noe...)...from a bicycle to a ferrari so to speak...and my oh my it's fast...

now i can keep up with RCC madcap conversations, download copious amounts of muzak/vids and actually watch Youtube, all from home with ease...vunderbar!

should have done this a long time ago...silly boi...
