the next car for me....i wish...

...will be a gloss-black LOTUS EXIGE S with the accompany anthracite rims...*drooling copiously* :))

ever since the original elise/exige first made their appearance in the motoring world, i was entranced...the formula of low weight propelled by a decently powerful motor without all the accoutrements (and added weight) of electronics appealed enormously to a driver like me...and the lines on the cars were schweet!!!

now the EXIGE S is a bit more grown up than the previous rawer version but still nothing to be sneezed at for spartaness, that i can tell you =)

weighing in at a featherweight 935 kg dry weight and boasting a supercharged 1.8L toyoto screamer of an engine putting out 218 horses, the century sprint whizzes past in just a mite over 4 seconds on the way to a top speed of almost 240 kmh...along with bespoke suspension components, ergonomically-impeccable PROBAX seats...woooooo....ok, so it's not the most practical of cars but who really cares, right??? heeheee :)

A small lightweight sportscar weighing just 935 kg (2057 lbs), powered by a 162.5 kW (218 hp, 221 PS) high revving supercharged engine, giving a zero to 100 km/h time of just 4.3 seconds (0 – 60 mph in 4.1 seconds). It comes straight off the production line and isn’t an “aftermarket special”.

Is this the quickest ever real-world production car? It is certainly the quickest Lotus production car - so far!

The Lotus Exige S is the latest addition to the Exige range and is a real sportscar that redefines the term “Extreme Performance”. With 90.5 kW / litre (121.4 hp / litre, 123 PS / litre), it is one of most powerful production cars in the world for its engine size but most importantly it has full type approval for all the markets in which it will be sold. The Lotus Exige S is not a limited edition, nor is it an aftermarket special – it is manufactured from start to finish in the world leading and award winning Lotus Manufacturing facility at Hethel, Norfolk.

Because the basic car is so immensely strong but lightweight (935 kg, 2057 lbs), giving a power to weight ratio of 173.8 kW/tonne (233.2 hp/tonne, 236.4 PS/tonne), performance is phenomenal, with 100 km/h being reached from a standing start in 4.3 seconds (0 – 60 mph in 4.1 seconds) and 160 km/h (100 mph) being reached in 9.98 seconds (estimate) before topping out at 238 km/h (148 mph). In spite of this phenomenal performance the fuel economy is impressive with an official combined figure of 9.1 litres / 100 km (31.0 mpg) - extra urban is an impressive 7.2 litres / 100 km (39.2 mpg). Lotus believes that there is no car on sale anywhere in the world that has such good performance combined with such good fuel economy! Not that many customers will be buying this car principally for its fuel economy!!

Being a Lotus, straight-line performance is not the most important factor, but every day driving on normal roads, or around a circuit is. There are very few cars on sale today that can match the speed, agility and safety of the Exige S in both day to day and track or circuit driving. However the Exige S is not just a track day warrior. It is a sportscar that would be at home on the back roads, freeways and autobahns, as well as on city streets. With an extremely "torquey" engine and the classic Lotus suspension set-up of soft compliant springs and firm controllable dampers, the driving experience is an uncanny combination of telepathic-like handling with a taught and comfortable ride. There is really no car that handles quite like a Lotus.

Clive Dopson, Managing Director of Lotus Cars says, “The Exige S represents the ultimate “extreme” production Lotus, with performance that trumps other supercars costing twice or even three times as much. That it does so with the fuel economy of a family hatchback, stands as a testament to the Lotus concept of performance through light weight. Its an unbeatable package and an unbeatable drive.

below is the vid for TOP GEAR's test of the car shown only just very recently..yummilicious!

nostalgia

i first heard this song years and years back and immediately fell in love with it...it seems a bit cheesy judging from the lyrics, but listening to the song, it just seems so heartfelt...

back then when i first heard it, it was sung by this singaporean female singer ANGELINE KONG...suddenly though of it today for no particular reason and went to look for a DL...surprisingly found out that it was first sung by SANDI PATTI...woah....

here's the LINK to the song (left click please) and below are the lyrics...hope you like ;)

Sandi Patti - Love In Any Language

Je t'aime
Te amo
Ya ti-bya lyu blyu
Ani ohevet othka
I love you

The sounds are all as different
As the lands from which they came
And though the words are all unique
Our hearts are still the same

CHORUS
Love in any language
Straight from the heart
Pulls us all together
Never apart
And once we learn to speak it
All the world will hear
Love in any language
Fluently spoken here

We teach the young our differences
Yet look how we're the same
We love to laugh, to dream our dreams
We know the sting of pain

From Leningrad to Lexington
The farmer loves his land
And daddies all get misty-eyed
To give their daughter's hand

Oh maybe when we realize
How much there is to share
We'll find too much in common
To pretend it isn't there

CHORUS

The rhetoric of government
May keep us worlds apart
There's no misinterpreting
The language of the heart

CHORUS

FOUND IT!!! the koenigseggeegegeegegegg...

...retested AND with a new wing (see a couple of posts below)...and stiggy comprehensively annihilates the previous lap record of the pagani zonda F....the thing is, even with the new wing, on the limit, that is still quite beastly...judging from the squirming under braking, the tippy-toe rear...still more than a handful to manage, i'd say...man, the stig has some sizeable titanium cojones... *salute*

so on 24th may just passed...

...i'd been owning maxine for 2 whole years already...

and from day 1 till now, it's been nothing but LUURRRVVVEEE =)) true that there have been a couple of very minor but niggling irritations and 1 MAJOR set-back...but those have never detracted from the driving pleasure and the joy of top-down motoring...

she's done me about 57000 km with nary a breakdown (TOUCH WOOD!) and brought me on one of my biggest adventures when i drove up to and all around malaysia in the company of 3 other miatae for 4 days, covering about 2000+ km...

true, i've spent quite a fair bit on her, but mostly as modifications/upgrades/improvement on existing equipment and nothing much in the way of repair (TOUCH WOOD again!)...

here's to another 3 years of motoring, maxine darling! MUAKZ!!!

it's rampaging time again....

...well, at least for the majority of the herd but certainly not me...

it's the GREAT SINGAPORE SALE 2006 and the crowds are out in full force...downtown after work is just an amorphous mass of aunties and uncles, housewives towing their frustrated and unwilling hubbies, girls with their trying-to-please boyfriends (but secretly regretting it)....you get the picture...

and to make matters even worse...it's the frigging school hols thrown in for good measure...good as in "good" ;) so into the melting pot goes the droves of screaming nuisances called kids and teenagers too...i tell you, can die ah!

i am avoiding town for the next month or so unless absolutely necessary...it's a blinking madhouse =S

hold press!!!

re the koenigseggeegeegeeggeeggg below...latest news...from wikipedia of all things...weird =)) now if only i can find that blasted video...

In May 2006, the Stig lost control of the £415,000 Koenigsegg CCX and ploughed through a tyre wall. Koenigsegg did accept that the car suffered from a lack of rear downforce, and took the car back to Sweden to retrofit a rear wing, in an attempt to rectify the problem. Koenigsegg later sent back the car with its new rear spoiler, and Stiggy promptly made the fastest ever power lap in it (1 minute 17.6 seconds).

how hairy is the koenigsegg CCX??

an absolute monster by any measure of cars...massive power accompanied by a slippery co-efficient of drag enabled it to beat the then production car record top speed at nardo speedring of the mclaren f1 in feb 2005 (372 kmh) by, what is at that rarified end of the speed spectrum, a massive 16 kmh...it topped out at 388 kmh...(sidenote - that mclaren record was the official top at the nardo...but the official straight line for the mclaren was 386 kmh)

top gear tested it and even the stig couldn't handle it...see the vid below...WOOT!!!

all i can say it, i wouldn't dare to drive the car...fast, anyway =))

wretched weekend...

the missus got food poisoning on wednesday...and whilst she was still in the midst of recovery, I blardy kena food poisoning friday night!!! i mean, what are the freaking chances of that happening to BOTH of us....sheesh!!!

spent the most of friday late night feverish, tossing about in my sleep, running repeatedly to the loo...must have caught all of 2 hour's sleep in total...and yesterday was just as bad...i must have visited my throne all of 20 to 30 times in all...legs were damn weak after all of that...

didn't really have any appetite whatsoever, so the whole of yesterday i consumed only 3 slices of bread...and yet this morning, i still wasn't very hungry...

right now still slightly churny and queasy...hope i get better by tomorrow...just wasting too much toilet paper =S

thank heavens it's the last stand...

brett ratner dropped the ball big time...other then the SFX/CGI, everything else was just messy hash...too many elements in the movie and none of them even remotely resolved...terribly disappointing...

at least we got to see the danger room, the sentinel, the fast ball special...but man, it still sucks...just too much to tell in 108 minutes...

1 saving grace - halle berry looks absolutely HAWT with that hairdo...my oh my...

at "beast", 5.5 out of 10 for me... =( thankfully, no more...

a helluva lucky woman...

wah kao...she's got a guardian angel for sure!!! :O

A dashboard camera recording from an Oakland County sheriff's patrol car captured a dramatic rollover accident about 20 miles east of Lansing, Michigan on Monday afternoon.

The Ingham County Sheriff's Office said a car swerved toward an SUV to avoid a merging car. Emily Bowness, 29, was driving her SUV next to the car that swerved, forcing her toward the median.

Police said her SUV slid off the roadway. She tried to correct and then came back across the road. That's when her vehicle flipped and rolled about 10 times.

Bowness was treated and released at a hospital. Authorities said her seatbelt likely saved her life. Police released the video hoping the public has information to help them identify the driver of the vehicle that caused the accident.

Driver blows 18 times legal alcohol limit!

Lithuanian police were so astonished by a breath test that registered 18 times the legal alcohol limit, they thought their device must be broken. It wasn't.

Police said Tuesday 41-year-old Vidmantas Sungaila registered 7.27 grams per liter of alcohol in his blood repeatedly on different devices after he was pulled over Saturday for driving his truck down the center of a two-lane highway 60 miles from the capital, Vilnius.

Lithuania's legal limit is 0.4 grams per liter. "This guy should have been lying dead, but he was still driving. It must be an unofficial national record," Saulius Skvernelis, director of the national police traffic control service, told the AP. "He was of high spirits and grinning the whole time he was questioned."

Medical experts say anything above 3.5 grams per liter of alcohol in the blood is lethal for most people. "A person this intoxicated should be in an intensive care unit, not behind the wheel," said Tautvydas Zikaras, head of the dependence illness center in the country's second-largest city, Kaunas. Zikaras said he had never heard or read of someone being so drunk.

Sungaila, who was slapped with a $1,110 fine and the loss of his license for up to three years, told police he had been drinking the night before and tried to freshen up by downing a pint of beer for breakfast.

Letting Life Flow - An Affirming Message

Let life flow

You may be under a lot of stress, but it doesn't help to get angry about it. Things may not be going the way you planned, but it doesn't help to be resentful about it.

What does help is to keep yourself connected with the best that is within you. What does help is to remind yourself often of the positive path that you've chosen to be on.

Sure, the day-to-day events will not all go the way you planned. You may have long, difficult periods in which nothing goes your way.

And yet, you have the good fortune of being in complete control of your thoughts and your attitude. As such, you can choose an attitude that will always pull real, lasting value out of even the most difficult circumstances.

Imagine being at peace with yourself and with the world around you. Imagine how very much more effective you would be if you simply let life flow without letting it get to you.

And know that in this moment, in every moment, however complicated or contentious or stressful it may be, that is a choice you can make. Choose to let life flow, and you'll choose to be in positive, peaceful control.

Stop at the picture for a second, and watch the Rain... then read on...

Image Hosted by ImagePros.us

One rainy afternoon I was driving along one of the main
streets of town, taking those extra precautions
necessary when the roads are wet and slick.

Suddenly, my daughter, Aspen, spoke up from her relaxed
position in her seat. "Dad, I'm thinking of something." This
announcement usually meant she had been pondering some
fact for a while, and was now ready to expound all that
her six-year-old mind had discovered. I was eager to hear.

"What are you thinking?" I asked.

"The rain!" she began, "is like sin, and the
windshield wipers are like God wiping our sins away."
After the chill bumps raced up my arms I was able
to respond. "That'sreally good, Aspen."

Then my curiosity broke in. How far would this little
girl take this revelation? So I asked..."Do you notice how
the rain keeps on coming? What does that tell you?"

Aspen didn't hesitate one moment with her answer:

"We keep on sinning, and God just keeps on forgiving us."

I will always remember this whenever I turn my wipers on.

Poem

succinct! ;)

I was shocked, confused, bewildered
as I entered Heaven's door,
Not by the beauty of it all,
nor the lights or its decor.

But it was the folks in Heaven
who made me sputter and gasp--
the thieves, the liars, the sinners,
the alcoholics, the trash.

There stood the kid from seventh grade
who swiped my lunch money twice.
Next to him was my old neighbor
who never said anything nice.

Herb, who I always thought
was rotting away in hell,
was sitting pretty on cloud nine,
looking incredibly well.

I nudged Jesus, "What's the deal?
I would love to hear Your take.
How'd all these sinners get up here?
God must've made a mistake.

"And why's everyone so quiet,
so somber? Give me a clue."
"Hush, child," said He, "they're all in shock.
No one thought they'd be seeing you."

Judge NOT.

IMF - impossible to decipher??

IMF would normally stand for the INTERNATIONAL MONETARY FUND...but IMF also stands for the IMPOSSIBLE MISSIONS FORCE...who the heck came up with this lameass name??? geezzzz...

well, MI3 has been out for what 2 weeks now and i still have yet to catch it...solely because i have been way too busy to catch it...i will though, this weekend, courtesy of peaches who has some special lobang for tickets @ 5 ber a piece...

movie has been widely panned by critics so i will go with no expectations lor...anyways, just to see the trio of the delectable maggie q, michelle monaghan and keri russell makes the 5 ber worth it liao...hehe =))

DVC - are you gonna watch it???

so the movie's out...and the hullabaloo has increased...critics have been ever more vociferous and the hoo-ha is just incredible...THE DA VINCI CODE (see wikipedia entry here) movie has opened and the potshots are just beginning...

i dunno....personally i go to the movies to be entertained and whatever i see within is regarded as pure fiction...but this book/movie could be a bit dangerous...

i will go with the firm inkling that this is absolutely fiction and will NOT impact on my faith...

what i personally worry is the influence that this book/movie could have on pre-believers...might lead them down the wrong pathways...

what could be done?????

Making The Best of What Life Hands You...

The best way to handle good fortune is to do something positive and useful with it. The best way to handle misfortune is exactly the same.

In fact, a great response to just about any situation is to do something positive and valuable. Exactly what that may be is not always obvious, yet it is most certainly there, and with commitment and effort you can find it.

When you've made a mistake, find an empowering way to move forward from it. When you've experienced a setback, respond with a burst of positive, productive energy and it will carry you far. Profit from mistakes.

When everything is going your way, that's a great time to really get creative. Look for how you can build lasting value and meaning out of the good things that are coming into your life, and then take the steps necessary to do it.

Whether the situation is filled with fear, disappointment, joy, excitement, incompetence, effectiveness or boredom, the best way forward is always the same. The best way forward is to be positively useful and to create real value out of whatever has come your way.

In good times or bad, in circumstances that are easy or challenging, what matters most is what you do next. And you can always make that something great.

what NOT to do in a library

OMFG!!! the things they think of...
pretty much burst my sides laffing hysterically

oh for wont of a legal licence plate...

brought maxine for the bi-annual LTA inspection for cars older than 3 years....passed everything with flying colours...even the welding and repositioning of the cat convertor to accomodate my aftermarket exhaust manifold (which theoretically is not a legal modification)...BUT of all the things, got flunked for having the fancy lettering on my rear licence plate...ALAMAK!

...a horse! a horse! my kingdom for a horse!

bah! at least i do not have to pay again for inspection...just gotta go get the licence plate redone and to go back to satisfy the inspector that it's been changed to something legal in order to get my test certificate with an approved chop...ley the chey!

well, it could have been much worse lah...so i should be happy, right??? well......human nature =))

sigh, the guy taking my order...

...didn't like me =( hahahahaha....

getting motivated!

came across an interesting motivational article today which i feel would be nice to share with one and all...a lot of times, we allow ourselves to get dominated by how we feel...to allow ourselves to feel lousy in the morning thereby screwing up the rest of the day is something that i am sure everyone has had experience with...

75% is mental, i feel...if i wake up and think that i feel lousy, then i surely will have a lousy day! so nowadays i do my best to convince myself that i am feeling fricking awesome and i will live up to that "promise"!

article below

Your feelings

How do you want to feel today? That's exactly the way you can feel.

Do you want to feel frustrated, annoyed, upset, discouraged and angry? Then you will find in this day plenty of excuses for feeling all those negative emotions.

Or would you prefer to feel alive, empowered, enthusiastic, passionate and joyful? If so, as you go through the day there will be opportunities for such coming from every direction.

The great thing is that you are never a prisoner of circumstance when it comes to how you feel. Whatever may or may not be happening around you, you can choose to feel exactly the way you want to feel.

Yes, you could choose to feel lousy and then blame your feelings on the terrible hand you've been dealt. But you would be missing out on a great opportunity, the opportunity of experiencing the best that this day has to offer.

Instead, decide to take responsibility for your own feelings and then aim those feelings in a positive, empowering direction. And whatever else may happen, you're sure to have a great, valuable day filled with life.
