what an FA cup final!!! pool comes back from the dead once again (a la istanbul last year) to win the 2006 FA cup in a penalty shoot-out...3-3 (3-1)...
they looks dead and buried by the 28th minute after 2 soft goals which their normally redoubtable defence inexplicably let in...but hauled themselves back into contention with a neat volley from the black panther djibril cisse (set up by stevie g) and a opportunistic slamdunk from 20 yards out thereafter by the same G-man...
only to let in yet another soft goal...what was happening???? could that be the critical final nail in the coffin??? NO!!! at the stroke of the 91st minute, when all hope seemed lost, a 35 yard thunderous volley from captain marvel which flashed into the left corner of the net rekindled a flame of hope!
a tense 30 mins of extra time followed in which the hammers came infinitesimally close to sealing the match with a goal bound header that pepe reina somehow got his fingers to, to deflect the ball onto the goalpost to keep the impasse intact...then it all came down to the penalty kicks and in spite of what was a very ordinary performance during the game, reina redeemed himself and earned pool their 7th FA cup with 3 shot-stops!!!
AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! what a rush!!! i was wired like i'd ingested a quadruple espresso...nearly couldn't sleep!!! =))YYYYOOOUUUUUU'LLLL NNNEEVVVVVEERRR WWWAALLKKKK AAALLLLLLOOOOONNNNNEEE!!!!!
