i'm all giga-d

finally...at long last...got lexi's HU changed...to make a long story short, a friend of mine gave me his component speakers and HU cos he's scrapping his car...i just paid the labour and materials for swapping over both sets of car stereos...all in all spent about a third of what i would have had to fork out had i gone and got new stuff...reasonable i guess...thinking

see the HU fascia above...it's the SONY MEX-1GP (Gigapanel)...the receiver has 1GB of flash memory and a USB port engineered into the faceplate. when the faceplate is removed from the receiver and connected to a Windows-enabled PC, it is recognized as an external drive. with the provided USB cable, users can quickly transfer and save MP3 and WMA files to the faceplate...kinda frickin' cool!big grin

now i can blast my muzak and not have the speakers explode...the stock HU and speakers in lexi were utter rubbish, man!rolling eyes

and here's a little review done by car audio magazine of the HU installed in a FORD GTX...if they can use it on a 1-off "concept" car, heck it must be good innit?applause
