home...such an evocative word

ok so i've finally moved in...

...to my new home.

it's been quite a monumental pain in the ass so far, what with the mountains of boxes to sort through and unpack, to co-ordinate with the vendors for deliveries of my newly-bought stuff and to get my belongings to fit into the space that is supposed to house them.

to make things even more exasperating for me, the inner door handle's screws are not biting into the wood properly anymore and my washing machine's gone on the blink...

not fun....but it's still quite rewarding and satisfying in an odd way somehow...

it'll take maybe a month for the house to become a home...i think...i hope.

am intending to take the day off on friday 16 apr to move in...

went back to the new place late this morning as the AV system was being installed (tuning will have to come later when all the furniture is in place)...also got a hanging system installed for the washing in the yard area...

things are almost done...probably monday/tuesday it'll all be ready (except for the display cabinet of course)...

reno update week 15

things are not going as smoothly this week as the last, due to some glaring mistakes made by the contractor. looks like we may be holding back the move till next weekend instead...

and even then, the display cabinet will only be installed next month. idiots used the wrong laminate for it and when they went back to the laminate purveyor for the correct one, turns out that it's out of stock and will only be in by may...dammit.

and the asswasher (read: bidet) was installed in the wrong toilet, so i am making them buy an extra identical set to install in the correct one.

it's taking shape nicely!

laminate floor is in, carpentry due to finish up by tomorrow/day after (i think)...dropped by just after lunch to take a quick look around and i am pleased with the progress...




planned schedule
6th apr - installation of the walk-in wardrobe
7th apr - wallpaper to go in
8th apr - pickup TV from storage facility and lug it to new place
9th apr - installation of the home theatre and TV
10th apr - curtains and handover, plus clean-up to start
11th apr - clean-up to continue
12th apr - move in!

things are on schedule!!! look good indeed...


this was the scene in the living/dining rooms last week...the initial wiring had all been completed and the false ceiling has since been installed...


the lights were sitting around last week, waiting for installation which has begun today...


the kitchen cabinets are in the process of installation now...

master bathroom door's a frosted glass sliding panel to save space...this necessitated shifting of the doorway...

went down to the new place during lunchtime, having picked up some speaker cables and interconnects to pass to the contractor (these need to go into the false ceiling and the TV feature wall)...

just look at the carnage...
