the ultimate scooby...

...is really NOT a scooby...well, not really one after dave richards and his PRODRIVE outfit get done with it...

step 1 - take a subaru R1 chassis

step 2 - massage the living hell out of a standard subaru WRX STI engine, ending up with 345 HP and a massive 515 nm of torque, lever in WRC-standard technologies such as anti-lag, active differentials blah blah, and chuck all of them onto said chassis

step 3 - get a designer who has boasts amongst his work, the seminal McLaren F1 to reskin the chassis

and what do you get?

PRODRIVE's very own technology showcase, the P2...ta-dah!!!

this baby is simply astounding in performance...everything that PRODRIVE has learnt running the subaru world rally team and the aston martin endurance racing team has gone into it...devastatingly fast it is...

too bad they're not putting it into production...it's only going to be a showcase of their abilities...

WHY WHY WHY OH WHY, DAVE?????????sigh

just get a load of the performance of this marvellous car...enuff to blow away many other supercars...and blow your breakfast at the same timerolling on the floor (just watch the video and you will get what i mean)

his early days in the rover metro rally car...

colin @ the X-Games 2006, possibly one of the most hard-core drives i have ever seen, in sheer grit and determination to finish in spite of a ROLL-OVER!!

a pictorial tribute to the man of maximum attack

back to the future, the rah band way...

in 1985, this song ruled my world....serious...it was cheesy as hell, yet incredibly bitterweet...CLOUDS ACROSS THE MOON was the defining song for me that year, even more so that murray head's one night in bangkok...

this is the rare 12" full length version of the smash hit...a classic, Classic, CLASSIC!!! the vid is actually re-done by the band with a remixed version of the 1985 single with the vocals totally re-recorded by vocalist Emma Charles to bring the track up to date...

a guilty pleasure indeed, for me...blushing

ooooh my...a continuation...

...of the Terminator franchise, nothing less!!!cool

just came across a poster for THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES...yes sarah connor...last seen on the big screen, embodied by Linda Hamilton in T2...that ripped, fully hard-core female warrior, the mother of the saviour of humanity...

she's back....with son in tow and more terminators hanging around! this time, she's played by the gorgeous Lena Headey, last seen in 300 as queen gorgo (incidentally, she was toplessdrooling)...damn i hope it's available onlinedevil

here's the spiel from the network:-
At the end of “Terminator 2: Judgment Day,” Sarah vanquished the liquid metal Terminator sent from the future to kill her teenage son, John. Sarah and John now find themselves alone in a very dangerous, complicated world. Fugitives from the law, they are confronted with the reality that still more enemies from the future, and the present, could attack at any moment.

THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES reveals what happens when SARAH (Lena Headey, “The Brothers Grimm,” “300”) stops running and goes on the offensive against an ever-evolving technological enemy bent on destroying her life, and perhaps the world. Her son, 15-year-old JOHN CONNOR (Thomas Dekker, “Heroes”), knows that he may be the future savior of mankind, but is not yet ready to take on the mantle of leadership that he’s told is his destiny. John finds himself inextricably drawn to CAMERON (Summer Glau, “Serenity,” “The Unit”), an enigmatic and otherworldly student at his high school, who soon proves to be much more than his confidante – she assumes the role of Sarah and John’s fearless protector. On their trail are not only threats from the future, but an intelligent and tough FBI agent, JAMES ELLISON (Richard T. Jones, “Judging Amy”), who soon becomes a powerful ally.

here's the actual trailer

China recycling used condoms as hair bands: report
Tue, Nov 13, 2007
AFP

BEIJING - USED condoms are being recycled into hair bands in southern China, threatening to spread sexually-transmittable diseases they were originally meant to prevent, state media reported on Tuesday.

In the latest example of potentially harmful Chinese-made products, rubber hair bands have been found in local markets and beauty salons in Dongguan and Guangzhou cities in southern Guangdong province, China Daily newspaper said.

'These cheap and colourful rubber bands and hair ties sell well ... threatening the health of local people,' it said. Despite being recycled, the hair bands could still contain bacteria and viruses, it said.

'People could be infected with AIDS, (genital) warts or other diseases if they hold the rubber bands or strings in their mouths while waving their hair into plaits or buns,' the paper quoted a local dermatologist who gave only his surname, Dong, as saying.

A bag of ten of the recycled bands sells for just 25 fen (a mere 4 singapore cents!), much cheaper than others on the market, accounting for their popularity, the paper said.

A government official was quoted as saying recycling condoms was illegal.

China's manufacturing industry has been repeatedly tarnished this year by a string of scandals involving shoddy or dangerous goods made for both domestic and foreign markets.

In response, it launched a public relations blitz this summer aimed at playing up efforts to strengthen monitoring systems. -- AFP

felt a lot better when i went into the arena and discovered that there were still heaps of folks about my age...PHEWwhew!

below are some photos taken with my mobile phone and a vid or two...sorry lah, not clear cos i was just that bit too far away...

vid here

now this is what i call some hairyass driving...

come ride along in a porsche rally car from way back when porsche still contested rallies...

it's possibly one of the scariest drives i have ever seen and this includes ari vatanen up pikes peak...the driver barely avoids disaster repeatedly by the skin of his teeth through sheer reflexes and supreme skill...

i really take my hat off to him...remember, that this is a car from back in the 70s or early 80s, without the technology of today...and it still has that engine (and all that associated weight) at the back of the car...

warped logic...

Two contractors (Phil and Eric) are seated either side of a table in a rough pub when a well-dressed man enters, orders a beer and sits on a stool at the bar. The two builders start to speculate about the occupation of the suit.

Phil: - I reckon he's an accountant.
Eric: - Nah. I reckon he's a stockbroker.
Phil: - No way. A stockbroker wouldn't come in here!

The argument repeats itself for some time until the volume of beer gets the better of Phil and he makes for the toilet. On entering the toilet he sees that the suit is standing at a urinal. Curiosity and the several beers get the better of the builder.

Phil: - 'Scuse me mate. No offence but me and me mate were wondering what you do for a living?
Suit: - No offence taken. I'm a Logical Scientist by profession.
Phil: - What's that then?
Suit: - I'll try to explain by example... Do you have goldfish at home?
Phil: - Er... Mmm . Well yeah, I do actually
Suit: - Well, it follows logically that you keep them in a bowl or in a pond. Which is it?
Phil: - They're in a pond!
Suit: - Well then it's reasonable to suppose that you have a large garden
Phil: - Too right - it's huge!
Suit: - Well then it's logical to assume that if you have a large garden then you have a large house?
Phil: - Bloody oath I've got a big house! Five bedrooms .....built it with me own hands!
Suit: - Well given that you've built a five-bedroom house it is logical to assume that you haven't built it just for yourself and that you are quite probably married?
Phil: - Mate, I'm married to the greatest sheila on earth and we've got three great kids.
Suit: - Well then it is logical to assume that you are sexually active with your wife on a regular basis?
Phil:- Yep! Four nights a week! At least!
Suit: - Well then it is logical to suggest that you do not masturbate very often?
Phil: - Me? You're kiddin me right? Never!
Suit: - Well there you are! That's logical science at work!
Phil: - How's that then?
Suit: - Well from finding out that you had goldfish, I've told you about your sex life!
Phil: - Awesome, mate!

Both leave the toilet and Phil returns to his mate.

Eric: - I see the suit was in there. Did you ask him what he does?
Phil: - Yep! He's a logical scientist!
Eric: - What's that then?
Phil: - Lemme explain. Do you have goldfish?
Eric: - Nope.
Phil: - Well then, you're a w*nker.
