beary good!

This bridge is on the Old Donner Pass Highway...and it has a spectacular view of Donner Lake and Donner Pass on Route 80.

A bear was walking across Rainbow Bridge (Old Hwy 40 at Donner Summit , Truckee) on Saturday when two cars also crossing the bridge scared the bear into jumping over the edge of the bridge. Somehow the bear caught the ledge and was able to pull itself to safety. Authorities decided that nothing could be done to help Saturday night so they returned Sunday morning to find the bear sound asleep on the ledge.

After securing a net under the bridge the bear was tranquilized, fell into the net, lowered, then woke up and walked out of the net.

There is a moral to this story you know; this old bear made a wrong move and found he was hanging by his nails. Somehow he was able to pull himself up onto the ledge where he saw he was in a very bad, impossible situation and what did he do? Yep, he took a nap and sure enough the situation took care of itself while he was asleep.

The moral is that when confronted with a bad situation sometimes the best solution is to take a nap. thumbs up

wat a peabrain!

thinking

A man has been rescued from a grain silo in Western Australia after being buried up to his neck in tonnes of peas. The accident happened while the man was working inside a Co-operative Bulk Handling silo yesterday at Esperance port.

It is not yet known if the man fell into the silo while it was being loaded or if the product was dumped on him while working inside. The State Emergency Service's Murray Hatten says about 30 emergency workers took three hours to rescue the man, fearing he may sink below head level.

"Once he was stabilised by a rope around under his armpits, they begun the process of digging him out utilising a vacuum cleaner of sorts - a large one, as well as shovels and various other things to free the man," he said. A spokesman for CBH say the man was not injured.

A man has been arrested for allegedly punching a camel on a dare at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in California. Vallejo police say 24-year-old Christopher Allen was dared by a friend to enter a restricted at the theme park where the camel was kept, and punch it.

He did, police say, and got arrested for his troubles.

Police say Allen was detained by park security, but soon escaped and ran from the park with his friends. Police finally caught up with Allen and arrested him and the driver of his getaway car, Chrissy Thatcher.

This has to be one of the funniest things in a long time. I think this guy should have been promoted, not fired. This is a true story from the WordPerfect Helpline, which was transcribed from a recording monitoring the customer care department. Needless to say the Help Desk employee was fired; however, he/she is currently suing the WordPerfect organization for ‘Termination without Cause.’

Actual dialogue of a former WordPerfect Customer Support employee.
(Now I know why they record these conversations!):

Operator: ‘Ridge Hall, computer assistance; may I help you?’
Caller: &nb sp; ’Yes, well, I’m having trouble with WordPerfect.’
Operator: ‘What sort of trouble??’
Caller: ’Well, I was just typing along, and all of a sudden the words went away.’
Operator: ‘Went away?’
Caller: ’They disappeared.’
Operator: ‘Hmm. So what does your screen look like now?’
Caller: ’Nothing.’
Operator: ‘Nothing??’
Caller: ’It’s blank; it won’t accept anything when I type.’
Operator: ‘Are you still in WordPerfect, or did you get out??’
Caller: ’How do I tell?’
Operator: ‘Can you see the ‘C: prompt’ on the screen??’
Caller: ’What’s a sea-prompt?’
Operator: ‘Never mind, can you move your cursor around the screen?’
Caller: ’There isn’t any cursor; I told you, it won’t accept anything I type.’
Operator: ‘Does your monitor have a power indicator??’
Caller: ’What’s a monitor?’
Operator: ‘It’s the thing with the screen on it that looks like a TV. Does it have a little light that tells you when it’s on??’
Caller: ‘I don’t know.’
Operator: ’Well, then look on the back of the monitor and find where the power cord goes into it. Can you see that??’
Caller: ’Yes, I think so.’
Operator: ‘Great. Follow the cord to the plug, and tell me if it’s plugged into the wall.
Caller: ’Yes, it is.’
Operator: ‘When you were behind the monitor, did you notice that there were two cables plugged into the back of it, not just one??’
Caller: ‘No.’
Operator: ’Well, there are. I need you to look back there again and find the other cable.’
Caller: ‘Okay, here it is.’
Operator: ’Follow it for me, and tell me if it’s plugged securely into the back of your computer.’
Caller: ‘I can’t reach.’
Operator: ’OK. Well, can you see if it is??’
Caller: ‘No.’
Operat or: ’Even if you maybe put your knee on something and lean way over??’
Caller: ‘Well, it’s not because I don’t have the right angle – it’s because it’s dark.’
Operator: ’Dark??’
Caller: ‘Yes - the office light is off, and the only light I have is coming in from the window.’
Operator: ‘Well, turn on the office light then.’
Caller: ‘I can’t.’
Operator: ’No? Why not??’
Caller: ‘Because there’s a power failure.’
Operator: ‘A power …. A power failure? Aha. Okay, we’ve got it licked now. Do you still have the boxes and manuals and packing stuff that y our computer came in??’
Caller: ‘Well, yes, I keep them in the closet.’
Operator: ‘Good. Go get them, and unplug your system and pack it up just like it was when you got it. Then take it back to the store you bought it from.’
Caller: ’Really? Is it that bad?’
Operator: ‘Yes, I’m afraid it is.’
Caller: ’Well, all right then, I suppose. What do I tell them??’
Operator: ‘Tell them you’re too stupid to own a computer!!!’

Murphy showed up at Mass one Sunday and the priest almost fell down when he saw him. Murphy had never been seen in church in his life.

After Mass, the priest caught up with Murphy and said, “Murphy, I am so glad ya decided to come to Mass, what made ya come?”

Murphy said, “I got to be honest with you Father, a while back, I misplaced me hat and I really, really love that hat. I know that McGlynn had a hat just like me hat, and I knew that McGlynn came to church every Sunday. I also knew that McGlynn had to take off his hat during Mass and figured he would leave it in the back of church. So, I was going to leave after Communion and steal McGlynn’s hat.”

The priest said, “Well, Murphy, I notice that ya didn’t steal McGlynn’s hat. What changed your mind?”

Murphy said, “Well, after I heard your sermon on the 10 Commandments, I decided that I didn’t need to steal McGlynn’s hat after all.”

The priest gave Murphy a big smile and said; “After I talked about ‘Thou Shalt Not Steal’ ya decided you would rather do without your hat than burn in Hell, right?”

Murphy shook his head and said, “No, Father, after ya talked about ‘Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery’ I remembered where I left me hat.”

i've gotta try this!!!

See more /a> at

ole tinhead...

finally the day came to watch IRON MAN...and it didn't disappoint meapplause

overall a 7.5/10 for me...solid storyline and well-paced...never was there a lull...robert downey jnr looks every inch the billionaire industrialist playboy and did a great job fleshing out the character of tony stark...

gwyneth was just stunning...not a difficult role for her, but she makes the character of pepper just so likeable...and aiyoooo, those legs...i'd like to lick them up and down...just for startersdevil

obadiah stane was subtly menacing and nicely played by veteran actor jeff bridges...and his iron monger suit was a masterclass in overt menace...

the most useless character (underused) is james rhodes...wat a waste of terrence howard's talents...in fact, with his somewhat effete voice, a bit gay, if you ask melaughing

daylight

she's one of the founding members of DESTINY'S CHILD but has always worked in the shade of beyonce, who's gone on to superstardom...kelandria trene rowland, otherwise known as kelly, has got some singing chops of her own...

in her new single DAYLIGHT, featuring travis mccoy of gym class heroes, she takes on the old bobby womack classic with class and verve and makes for a very listenable song indeed...

hope you guys like it...big grin i most certainly do...

The Office of Government Commerce, a department of Her Majesty’s Treasury in England, unveiled their new logo.

It was intended to signify a bold commitment to the body’s aim of ‘improving value for money by driving up standards and capability in procurement.’

The design cost almost $28,000 to create.
