watched the watchmen...haha

alan moore's WATCHMEN was one of the most anticipated comic-book movie adaptations in recent years...directed by Zack Snyder (of "300" fame), it is a pretty slavish interpretation of the iconic limited 10-issue series and actually, in spite of all the bad press prior to the release, pretty damned good...applause

set in 1985, in an alternative universe where richard nixon still reigns as the american president, where the USA actually won the vietnam war, it shows the audience a distinctly distopian world where superheroes are now regulated in the population and looked upon with suspicion and fear (and where some are considered criminal vigilantes in fact). the world stands on the brink of a nuclear holocaust as america and the soviet union face off...amidst the rising tensions, the murder of a retired superhero stirs up the spectre of a revenge plot which brings other retired members of that superhero grouping in to investigate his death...

ok, so it may be a little bit long @ 162 minutes, but not at any moment did i feel the length...the pacing was nigh on perfect and the sets, the acting, the whole feel of the movie was, to me, spot on!

i am dying to watch it again...now if i could just find the time...

blimey! just too damn good lor!
rock on!
