had an early dinner today as the missus and i decided to forego lunch due to a late breakfast...
decided to check out BOTAK JONES at their outlet in AMK...supposedly "damnnn good (american) food at a damnnn good price"...it's located in a unassuming little kopitiam at blk 608 amk ave 5...
the jalapeno peppers come in a serving of 5...didn't look too special but i was curious to try since it's been touted to be the 2nd most "hiam" chilis around....1st bite...copious amount of cheese oozed out...heaven...then came the slow burn of the pepper...and just when i was anticipating the onslaught of thermite explosion in the mouth....
huh, you mean that's it? it's not close to being piquant enuff to satisfy me, let alone my fire-eating missus...what a let down...
not an auspicious start indeed...then my beef frank came and HOLY SCHEIZER
it's a colossal one indeed...about 20cm long, diameter of a 50 cent coin and it was spectacular! the frank was smothered with melted cheese and topped of by a mound of raw onions with a side of spicy fries and coleslaw...the 1st bite was ecstacy-inducing...needless to say, i was in 7th heaven...
the missus' cheeseburger came a short while later...altho it was good, there was no way it could match up to the frank...by itself it was delicious indeed...i was not 100% convinced that the patty was good quality ground beef though...not knobbly enuff...perhaps they were using cheaper beef which was more fatty...resulting in a juicy but slightly more "mushy" (for want of a better word) patty...still it was extremely tasty since it was topped off with 2 slices of melted cheddar...
so....overall, a 7.5/10 experience...would definitely go back to sample the other stuff on the menu...judging from what we have eaten today, would expect pretty decent steaks, fish n chips and the like...
