the missus wans her authentic thai food and authentic thai (read...cheap cheap) shopping experience...we will be heading up on 28th feb and returning 3rd mar but this time, have booked a very new hotel in the pathumwan area called SIAM@SIAM DESIGN HOTEL & SPA...softlaunched dec 06 and officially opening mar 07...so far the word has been very good indeed and i am looking forward to seeing how much the actual experience measures up against the word...

We just stayed there twice on a trip to Thailand (Feb 2007). Cannot say enough good things about the hotel. The first time we were there the spa was yet to open but it was opened by the time we came back and it is excellent.
The location is fantastic, it is just 3 or 4 minutes walk to the Skytrain at National Stadium and you can also get the canal boat from outside Jim Thompson's house, very close to the hotel, which takes you to the Golden Mount.
The MBK shopping mall is just down the road and, overall, this is a superb location for anyone heading to Bangkok for the first time.
As for the hotel: wonderful staff, we stayed in the BIZ rooms and they are great, the hotel decor is very interesting, certainly not the soft colours and fabrics one becomes accustomed to.
Nothing but good things to say about this hotel.
