finally got to watch JUNO...

...and in short, i absolutely love it to bits!!!! terrifically acted, whip-smart dialogue and a cracking screenplay make this little low-key movie completely fascinating to watch...

the movie blurb reads as follows:- "Ellen Page stars as Juno, a witty teenage girl whose boredom doesn’t lead her to the mall. Instead, she makes a one-time trip into the arms of her best friend Paulie Bleeker (Michael Cera). When Juno discovers that she’s pregnant, she’s forced to grow up fast as she tries to find adoptive parents for her quickly growing child."

the 2 stars are undoubtedly the frighteningly-poised 20 year-old ELLEN PAGE (probably most remembered in X-MEN as kitty pryde aka shadowcat and the protagonist in the pedophile-revenge movie HARD CANDY) and the screenplay by self-confessed former stripper DIABLO CODY...

page's juno is at once precocious, odd and sassy but never lets her character's innate cuteness seem cloying and overpowering through the judicious application of sarcasm. she describes herself as a "cautionary whale" and the unborn child as a "sea monkey...this sardonic tone however is never bitter but seems more accepting and feels as though it is a crutch for her to deal with this unforeseen circumstance she's in...absolutely spot-on a portrayal!

cody diablo's screenplay crackles with electricity...famous for her blog and her book CANDY GIRL: A YEAR IN THE LIFE OF AN UNLIKELY STRIPPER, diablo has a unique voice and an incredible ear for dialogue...she certainly knows how to write scenes that move off center as she creates a world of teens, high school and suburban families that looks typical yet is anything but. the screen play really is smart and sassy, warm yet frequently caustic, realistic but kinda storybookish -- and very, very funny...blardy hell, is Juno a funny little movie or what! cody diablo totally deserves her original screenplay Oscar...every last gold-coated bit of that little statuette...

both are ably supported by the various actors in the movie such as MICHAEL CERA (of SUPERBAD) as the father of juno's child, OLIVIA THIRLBY as juno's somewhat ditsy yet grounded best galpal , J.K.SIMMONS & ALISON JANNEY as the erstwhile teenager's parents...JASON BATEMAN and JENNIFER GARNER as the prospective adoptive parents of Juno's unborn child. and this is all masterfully choreographed by director JASON REITMAN (son of IVAN who directed GHOSTBUSTERS)...

not enuff words in my quite limited vocab to gush on about this wonderful movie, so all i can do is to suggest...no, recommend highly, that you watch it! REALLY!
