good ole christian bale was the usual brooding batbrain...the wife loves him to bits...he's really quite the good-looking, i must admit...but to play bruce wayne is not really a stretch and to play bats you dun really need to emote that much lah...aaron eckhard as the ill-fated harvey dent radiated boundless enthusiasm as the vigorous DA hunting down the bad guys of gotham and it was quite sad to see how he turned out to be two-face....the fall of the white knight...fantastic effects on the face....damn freaky...seamless...
maggie gyllenhaal just cannot hack it as rachael dawes! bring back katie holmes! so much prettier is katie....but that being said, mags has quite a solid bod...niceeeeee legs...but the face ah, aiyooo...
and now for heath...oh my oh my!!! absolutely spooky and chilling...blardy creepy is the joker...really.....a great job channelling the clown prince of gotham's criminal underworld...the facial and tongue tics, the eery nasal voice...the "illogical" logic...the sense of inner chaos breaking out...damn i hope he wins an oscar posthumous tho it may be...what a performance!
amidst all of this, i think gary oldman's performance as james gordon was understated and full of gravitas...the decent man doing his best amongst the craziness, torn between his work and trying to take care of his family at the same time...
the incidental soundtrack by hans zimmerman and james newton-howard is another star...very atmospheric and as the screws get turned up by the prince of chaos, the music intensifies terrifyingly...very ominous...just spot-on!
pacing slightly iffy for the 1st half of the show...slightly too drawn out...but chris nolan rescues it in a cataclysmic 2nd half of anarchy, violence and all-out action...
8.5/10 people....go watch it...
but please ah, remember to empty your bladder before going in...it's a long movie...
