caranx ignoblis

...sounds funky? or just to take the common name...GIANT TREVALLY! otherwise also known as ulua in hawaiian waters, ronin-aji in japan and mamulan in the marianas...

all it equates to is a fabulous sportfish with an estimated max growth weight of close to 90 kgm...yes 90 frickin' kilograms!!!

more commonly found between 5 to 30+ kgm, these are seriously aggro fish which are very prone to taking lures, be it casted or trolled...and they hit like a ton of bricks and pull like the proverbial freight train...

i once caught a 28 kgm one in the maldives...took me 45 minutes on 30 pound line and laid me low with a back spasm for a couple of hours thereafter...man!

with a little bit of luck, we can get on this mooted fishing trip upto pulau aur/dayang and tangle with some of these babies...it'll be an eye-opener for the others for sure...arms will definitely get stretched...

check out mark berg's GT in the vid below...yowzer, just listen to that drag whistle out!
